Welcome to the Health of Philippine Emigrants Study (HoPES)

The Health of Philippine Emigrants Study (HoPES) is an NIH-funded research study that aims to understand the changes in migrants' health after moving to the United States.

This study is conducted by researchers at the University of San Carlos in the Philippines, and the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Washington, in the United States.

The Commission for Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is a partner in this project. The CFO has given us permission to ask migrants to participate. But, the CFO, itself, is not conducting the study, and has no liability regarding research activities. The decision to participate is completely voluntary and does not affect an individual's rights and approval to emigrate from the Philippines.

News

Our US and Cebu research teams met at University of the Philippines, Diliman on January 16-20 to conduct meetings and training. The trip was a success and data collection should begin soon. We look forward to welcoming study participants in the near future!
