To create, promote, and disseminate a more balanced understanding of the interrelationship of the countries, peoples, and cultures of the United States and China through the tools of mass communication and public education.
Four strategic areas make up the U.S./China Media and Communications Program, housed at the UCLA Asian American Studies Center at the University of California, Los Angeles:
U.S./China Media Brief/Website
provides the media relevant historical perspectives and timely information on the 200 year old Sino-American relationship.
U.S./China Experts Exchange
gives the media ready access to experts on current U.S,/China and Chinese American issues.
Public Education and Training
informs and trains journalists, policymakers, researchers, and students of changing trends and ideas in Sino-American relations and the influential role of Chinese Americans in this relationship.
National and International Collaborations
with organizations, educational institutions, businesses, and non-government organizations committed to develop, communicate, and disseminate research, opinion, and information on Sino-American relations through public education, culture, and mass media communication.
