UCLA's ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES CENTER ANNOUNCES THE 2012 GEORGE AND SAKAYE ARATANI COMMUNITY ADVANCEMENT RESEARCH ENDOWMENT (Aratani CARE grants)
Professor David K. Yoo, Director of UCLA's Asian American Studies Center, is pleased to announce that 2012 Aratani CARE grant applications will be accepted for review between January 16 and March 9, 2012.
Detailed information about the grant and how to apply is available at the Aratani CARE web site URL: <www.aasc.ucla.edu/aratani>
The George and Sakaye Aratani "Community Advancement Research Endowment," or Aratani CARE, grants are designed to promote projects that will (1) benefit and advance Japanese American communities, as well as (2) strengthen ties between the Japanese American= communities and UCLA students, staff, and faculty.
Non-profit organizations and qualified individuals are invited to apply for grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Each proposal must include a campus partner (e.g., UCLA faculty, staff member(s), or student organization). The web site and applications will be open on January 16, 2012. The deadline for the second year of Aratani CARE grants is March 9, 2012. Awards will be announced by May, 2012. Grants should be completed within a year or less.
This year's grants will be evaluated by a panel of three judges drawn from the UCLA's Asian American Studies Center's "Faculty Advisory Committee." Specific questions about the Aratani CARE grant that are not covered on the web site may be sent to the Aratani Care Team at their special e-mail address, listed in the CARE grant web page.
