2009-10 I.A.C. Research Grants in Asian American Studies at UCLA

Deadline: Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Asian American Studies Center, 3230 Campbell Hall. Awards will be announced by the third week in June.

I.A.C. Research Grant Program in ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES at UCLA, 2009-10

The Institute of American Cultures, in conjunction with the Asian American Studies Center, invites applications for support of research on Asian Americans for 2009-2010.

ELIGIBILITY: UCLA faculty, staff, graduate students, and IAC postdoctoral fellows.

Prior to submission of the application, applicants may discuss their proposal with the assistant director of the Asian American Studies Center.

FUNDING: The Research Grant Program is on a reimbursement basis only. Ordinarily, faculty projects will be funded for no more than $10,000 and graduate student projects for no more than $7,000. Funds for the purchase of permanent equipment will be provided only under exceptional circumstances. Conference travel, whether the applicant is presenting or attending, is ineligible.

Due to recent budget cuts, a limited number of awards may be available this year. The amount of the research grants are subject to the availability of funds.

GRANT PERIOD: July 1, 2009 through May 31, 2010.
Grant recipients using human subjects will be required to submit her or his research proposal or exemption materials to the UCLA Institutional Review Board for approval. For those doing research on human subjects, funds will be available to grant recipients after completion of training and certification in the Protection of Human Research Subjects.
